*Alexa! Play Happy by Pharrell Williams!*
Hey there poets! Today we are going to be talking about what it means to be happy. Often times we think that happiness comes from things or people or events, and although these are not wrong, let's take it up a level. We know where our happiness comes from, it comes from memories, certain people, certain places, certain things, certain songs, the list can honestly go on forever. But to be happy is "Knowing true happiness means having to experience the opposite. How a well-rounded life is more meaningful in the long run." It's knowing what you can do to feel the like the best version of yourself regardless of the world around you, but let it be said that can affect you. So, what makes you happy or when have you felt happy? Write a poem and let us know. If you want it featured on our instagram or website, DM us or email it to us! Happy writing poets!

What's the perfect gift for someone?Well there is no such thing as the perfect gift. But there is such a thing as an awesome gift! Hey poets! We would love to show you guys how to make a poem for a special person in your life. Let's figure out the basics.. what type of poem do you want it to be, acrostic, haiku, limerick? To figure out what these are check out https://www.penguin.co.uk/articles/children/2019/oct/different-types-of-poetry-for-kids.html. Next step is to find the defining characteristic of your loved one. It could be their smile, laugh, hair, clothing, silliness.. what makes them THEM? After gathering this information, write your poem! The best thing to do is to be honest and raw , and write down exactly how you feel. Nothing is better than a message from the heart.
Still not inspired? Think of a memory with them.. a moment that you enjoyed with them. Describe how you felt around them. Send us your poetry as a gift and we'll repost it on our website and instagram page! https://www.nytimes.com/2020/11/28/at-home/newspaper-poetry.htmlHey Poets! The New York Times posted this amazing article about making blackout poetry! Blackout poetry is a type of poem where you use existing text on a page, and find words that make a "poem". Blackout, or color in, all the unnecessary words that won't add to your poem. Blackout poetry challenges your mind to work in a confined space and create something new out of something old. Send us your blackout poetry and we'll repost it on our website and instagram page!
